Dr Angelica Schwall-Düren has been Minister for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as well as official state representative to the Federal Government since 2010. From 1994 to 2010 she was a member of the German Bundestag, from 1998 as Parliamentary Secretary and from 2002 as Deputy Chairwoman for Affairs of the European Union for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. Before being elected to the Bundestag Angelica Schwall-Düren worked as a teacher at secondary schools in Ahaus and Gronau and parallel to this she trained as a family therapist and supervisor. Angelica Schwall-Düren studied History, Political Science and French in Montpellier, Münster and Freiburg, where she received a doctorate in Economic and Social History.
