Dr_Christa_HenzeDr. Christa Henze is academic senior councillor at the Department of Geography, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Her work specialises in procedures and strategies for the development and anchoring of education for sustainable development in school environments. Christa Henze is a member of the Round Table of the UN Decade "Education for sustainable development". In 2008, she was appointed a member of the forum "Aktion Zukunft Lernen" (Learning Future Action) by the federal state government of North Rhine-Westphalia to develop and implement actions for the state’s own action plan "Zukunft Lernen" (Learning Future) within the framework of the UN Decade. She has provided academic support to the projects "Schülerfirmen im Kontext einer Bildung für Nachhaltigkeit" (Student-run companies in the context of education for sustainability) as well as "KURS 21 – Schulen unternehmen Zukunft" (Course 21 – Schools venture the future), amongst others. At an international level she works, amongst other things, in the UNESCO network "Reorienting Teacher Education to address Sustainability".
